History

Today in an increasingly industrialized and multifaceted world, it is essential that the educational community at a higher level, organizations, and networks in general, focus their interest on scientific research with the help of the necessary tools for designing research topics of high level.

Under those mentioned above, the idea of creating an Open Access International Multidisciplinary Journal was born as part of the guidelines of the authorities of the University of Guayaquil (UG), led by the Principal, Francisco Morán Peña, Ph.D., and Sofía Lovato, Ph.D., as Academic Vice Dean. The inflection point started with the Dean of Research, Postgraduate, and Internationalization, who oversees the process for the creation and reactivation of scientific and academic journals of the University of Guayaquil, together with the Coordination of Research and Knowledge Management, and the General Editor of Journals of the University of Guayaquil, Miguel Botto, Ph.D.

In March 2022, the Faculty of Industrial Engineering assigned Eng. Yomar González, Ph.D. as the Editor of the journal EASI: Engineering and Applied Sciences in Industry, beginning an educational adventure by creating the scope and Editorial Committee of the journal 'online' version, together with a group of professors from the same Faculty, focused on gathering contributions in areas related to the interoperability of the industry and its relationship with society.

The project has been actively supported by the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering, Jimmy Hurtado Paspuel, M. Sc., and the faculty work team, who continue supporting the hard work of the Executive Editorial Committee of the journal. The biannual EASI journal finally meets the goal for 2022, publishing two issues with the outstanding participation of national and international researchers.

In this way, EASI continues growing with the vision of becoming a scientific benchmark in the technology applied to industry, including aspects of the relationship with society. The mission currently aims to index the journal in the leading general indices and ensure publication quality. The goal is to position the Faculty in a high ranking at a scientific level, motivating the target audience to participate in topics of research that enhance the curriculum of engineering careers and the research trends at the postgraduate level of the University of Guayaquil.

EASI was created to disseminate outstanding contributions, including aspects of industry 4.0 and 5.0 and their application on topics such as sustainability, circular economy, logistics, global value chains, and lean techniques, among others, always seeking new solutions for the industry and society.
