Abstract

The article analyzes the evolution of the credit of the Ecuadorian Financial System, through the use of plastic money in the last four years and its importance to boost the economy and facilitate commercial transactions. The methodology used to show results was a randomized survey. The population was a segment of the middle class. Once processed, the information was analyzed using graphics. It is determined that the credit card boom is linked to the conditions of the Ecuadorian economy, to the characteristics of the Financial System as well as to the particularities of the segment of the population that, having income according to their employment situation and the boom of the high oil prices between 2010 and 2014, increased their level of demand for goods and services.   When the economy collapses due to the crisis of the interna! and externa! economy, they enter a period of over-indebtedness and non-payment before which, although it is not at critical levels, if the relevant measures are not taken, it can affect the system as a whole.
