Abstract

The work describes critically the situation of health Cuban in those years that media te between 1950 and 1959-1960. It examines issues such as the distribution of the Cuban population by group of age and sex, the literacy and illiteracy, according to urban and rural residence of the population over 10 years; the employment by sectors; the percentage of unemployment; the conditions of life starting from the tenure of electricity, water drinking, baths, latrines, showers; the proportion ofhouseholds according to building materials, the amount of medica!, hospitals, beds, hospitals specialized, them deaths by diseases infectious, the rates of mortality and hope of life to the birth, the mortality and its causes, and the training medical and his work scientific. lts aim is to critically describe the health situation of the Cuban population in the period between the years 1950 and 1959-1960, this aspect still insufficiently examined by historians.
