Resumen

Las Buenas Prácticas en un marco universal establecen al control de calidad como clave en la gestión idónea de una farmacia clínica u hospitalaria más allá de ser un medio de verificación. La administración de la calidad total de los medicamentos en el campo hospitalario involucra la colaboración del equipo integral de salud, donde el profesional farmacéutico no solo tenga una función enmarcada en ser un especialista en medicamentos, sino que además los servicios provistos por su departamento a nivel hospitalario están enraizados en el marco de la calidad total (CT). Este enfoque con base en la administración de la CT supera con creces las ocupaciones que comúnmente ejecuta el personal que en la actualidad labora en la mayor parte de hospitales a nivel nacional, por lo cual tanto los procesos nuevos como los ya existentes tienen que ajustarse a este nuevo paradigma. El presente trabajo a través de la elaboración de un manual de gestión de la calidad total aplicable a farmacias hospitalarias de la Red Pública Integral de Salud (RPIS) en el Ecuador busca proporcionar las directrices básicas para el diseño de un sistema de gestión de la CT aplicable a farmacias de Hospitales Básicos (Categoría II-4) y Hospitales Generales (Categoría II-5) del segundo nivel de atención hospitalario de la RPIS
