Peer review process
The journal Ingeniería Química y Desarrollo (INQUIDE) submits each article to a rigorous double-blind peer review process. This process guarantees an objective and fair evaluation, since the reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and vice versa.
Evaluation Criteria
- Originality: The manuscript must present original research and not have been previously published or under consideration in another journal.
- Relevance: The study should be relevant to the field of chemical engineering and contribute to the development of knowledge in this area.
- Topicality: The research should address topics of current interest in the field.
- Contributions: Significant contributions to the field of study are valued.
- Scientific rigor: The methodology must be adequate and clearly described, allowing reproducibility of the study.
- Quality of writing: The manuscript should be well written, with a clear structure and without grammatical or typographical errors.
- Compliance with guidelines: The article should follow INQUIDE editorial guidelines.
Phases of the Process
1. Receipt and Initial Evaluation (up to 4 weeks)
- All manuscripts are received through the online management system OJS.
- The editor-in-chief performs an initial review to verify:
- Thematic fit to INQUIDE
- IMRDC Structure (Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusions)
- Format according to INQUIDE standards
- Citation according to IEEE style
- Originality by means of anti-plagiarism software
2. Assignment of Reviewers and Peer Review (minimum 4 weeks)
- Manuscripts that pass the initial review are assigned to at least two expert reviewers.
- Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and knowledge of the manuscript topic.
- The evaluation is performed anonymously (double-blind) to ensure impartiality.
- Each reviewer provides a detailed report using a standardized form.
- Possible outcomes:
(a) Accepted
b) Accepted with minor revisions
c) Accepted with major revisions
d) Rejected
3. Editorial Decision
- The editor-in-chief analyzes the evaluations and makes the final decision on the manuscript.
- The author is notified of the result and the reviewers' recommendations.
4. Revision Process (if applicable)
- Authors receive the reviewers' comments and the editor-in-chief's decision.
- If revisions are required, authors should submit:
- A revised version of the manuscript
- A response letter detailing how the reviewers' comments were addressed.
- The editorial team verifies the incorporation of the corrections.
5. Final Review and Publication
- The revised manuscript is re-evaluated by the editor-in-chief and, if necessary, by the reviewers.
- Once approved, the manuscript is prepared for publication in the next issue of the journal.
Commitment to Transparency
- Authors can follow the process through the OJS system.
- Constant communication is maintained with authors.
- Reviewers follow a code of ethics and use a standardized review form.
INQUIDE is committed to maintain the integrity and quality of the blind peer review process, ensuring the publication of innovative and relevant research in the field of chemical engineering and development.
