Abstract

This article explores the concept and content of good faith, defining it as rectitude and honesty in legal relationships. In the Roman context, it highlights its importance in contracts involving obligations of good faith. It is analyzed from psychological and ethical perspectives. In the Ecuadorian Civil Code, good faith is a general principle that informs, integrates, and interprets. Its hermeneutic function is highlighted in contract interpretation, ensuring loyalty and rectitude in all phases of the legal business.
