Instructions for Reviewers
The Presentation-Evaluation Criteria Manual and the Regulations for peer reviewers of works submitted to the Revista Universidad de Guayaquil are intended to clearly and expressly determine the guidelines, ethical norms, and originality standards governing the arbitration processes of academic-scientific articles submitted for publication.

REVIEW PROCESS THROUGH THE OJS PLATFORM
The assignment and evaluation of scientific articles are managed exclusively through the journal's OJS platform. The reviewer must log in with their credentials to accept or decline the request. Upon acceptance, they will complete the digital evaluation form (which includes sections on methodological rigor and AI detection) and issue their verdict. PROCESS TO BECOME PART OF THE SCIENTIFIC REVIEWER TEAM
The Revista Universidad de Guayaquil invites researchers and specialists to apply as external reviewers within our rigorous double-blind peer review process, focused on the Social Sciences discipline.
Requirements to be a Reviewer
- Hold a postgraduate degree (Master's or Ph.D.) properly registered, in areas related to the focus of Social Sciences.
- Have demonstrable experience in academic research, university teaching, or scientific publications in indexed journals of regional or global impact.
- Possess skills to write critical, constructive, objective, and well-founded review reports.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the peer review process, editorial ethical standards, and academic integrity policies (including the responsible use of AI).
- Be available to strictly comply with the established timelines of the editorial process.
Procedure to apply as a Reviewer
- Send a formal request to the journal's institutional email: revistaug@ug.edu.ec, with the subject: Application to be a Scientific Reviewer.
- Attach the following documents and information:
- Updated resume/CV.
- Institutional Affiliation and Country of residence.
- Institutional email.
- Link to ORCID ID profile.
- Admission process:
- The Editorial Committee will evaluate the academic profile and trajectory of the applicant.
- In case of a favorable resolution, the academic will be notified and included in the official database of reviewers.
- The applicant must complete their registration on the portal of the Revista Universidad de Guayaquil (OJS Registration).
- Articles will be assigned in strict accordance with their declared area of specialty and availability.
Commitments of the Reviewer
- Perform objective and constructive evaluations, based on academic rigor, through the Journal's platform.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding the evaluated manuscript. It is strictly prohibited to upload the unpublished text to open Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.
- Declare transparently if any generative AI tool has been used to support the drafting or style correction of your evaluation report.
- Comply with the established delivery times (usually 2 to 3 weeks per review).
- Immediately notify any conflict of interest or subsequent inability to evaluate an assigned manuscript.
