Pausas activas, atención selectiva, comportamiento y convivencia en estudiantes de educación media

Resumen

Introducción: el sedentarismo y las largas jornadas sedentes en el aula afectan la atención, el comportamiento y la convivencia del alumnado, mientras que las pausas activas constituyen una estrategia breve y de bajo costo para introducir movimiento durante las clases. Objetivo: evaluar la incidencia de un programa de pausas activas en la atención selectiva, el comportamiento y la convivencia escolar de estudiantes de educación media. Materiales y métodos: se empleó un diseño cuasiexperimental con dos grupos y mediciones antes y después, durante ocho semanas. Participaron doscientos estudiantes de décimo y undécimo grado, asignados a un grupo experimental y a un grupo control. La atención selectiva se evaluó con una prueba de cancelación, el comportamiento con un cuestionario de dificultades y la convivencia con una escala de convivencia escolar. Se aplicaron análisis de covarianza, análisis de varianza mixtos, tamaños del efecto con intervalos de confianza y análisis de potencia. Resultados: el grupo experimental mostró mejoras significativamente mayores que el grupo control en las tres variables, con interacciones significativas entre grupo y tiempo y magnitudes del efecto moderadas. La mejora de la atención y la disminución de las dificultades de comportamiento se asociaron con una mejor convivencia. Conclusiones: los resultados, obtenidos a partir de datos simulados con fines metodológicos, sugieren que las pausas activas podrían incidir favorablemente en la atención selectiva, el comportamiento y la convivencia escolar, si bien se requieren estudios con datos empíricos para confirmar estas tendencias.
