Abstract

Context: First, groundwater and reservoirs are defined. Then, the most important aquifer zones in the Guayas province are mentioned. Objective: There, three main aquifer zones are identified in order of increasing importance: the Pedro Carbo Zone; the Vinces Zone or Middle Basin of the Guayas River; and the Milagro-Bucay Alluvial Fan Zone. Method: The geological characteristics of each aquifer zone in Guayas are explained one by one. Results: The experiences gained as a consultant in the Durán canton and later as a participant in the visits made by members of the Water Forum during 2024 to various cantons of the province are presented.
