Use of Surface Water as a Source for Water Supply

Abstract

Water is essential for both nature and living beings. For living beings, it is essential for survival, as it participates in vital functions such as hydration, regulation of body temperature, and nutrient transport. In nature, the hydrological cycle is a key component regulating the climate and conserving ecosystems. Context: This work addresses the need to comply with design standards for selecting water sources. Objective: Intervention of the University Academy in watershed research. Method: Bibliographic research and field visits, coordination with the Sectional Governments of the Province of Guayas. Result: Improve the technical development of hydraulic and sanitary engineering projects. Conclusions: Define the basic tools for calculating design flows for water supply sources.
