Development of Pedagogical Competencies in Nursing Tutors in Hospital Settings through Google Sites

Abstract

Context: Hospital settings require nursing tutors with expert pedagogical skills and who can adapt to changing clinical conditions and the complex dynamics of care. Objective: This study evaluated a training program using Google Sites as a digital platform to develop the pedagogical skills of tutors at the Bolivarian University of Ecuador. Method: A quasi-experimental methodology was used, with 45 participants, in five modules. Results: The results of the quantitative evaluation concluded in significant improvements in all areas, including curricular adaptation (87%), use of digital resources (92%), and contextualized assessment (78%). The results of the qualitative evaluation show a profound change in the perception of the tutor role and an improvement in confidence in the application of active methodologies. Conclusions: Overall, the program proved to be an effective and viable strategy for the continuing education of clinical tutors in hospital settings.
