The aim of this research was to identify native bamboo species and establish a germplasm bank under the agroclimatic conditions of Vinces. The species were identified based on the constant characteristics outlined in the data sheets provided by Hidronación Company, and then collected from the company’s bamboo collection. A nursery was constructed for planting seedlings of six bamboo species, where they remained for four months. Cuttings, culms, and culm sections were planted in plastic bags containing a loamy soil substrate enriched with vermicompost. Subsequently, seedlings of the six species were transplanted to a site with a 10% slope, clayey texture, and vertisol soil; 50% of the area consisted of a marshy zone.
The agroecological conditions of Vinces proved optimal for bamboo species propagation. Six months after transplantation, Guadua latifolia exhibited the greatest height, averaging 208.6 cm, followed by Bambusa vulgaris at 119 cm. The species with the shortest height was Melocanna bacifera at 63.44 cm.
