1. Guidelines for Authors
1.1 Scope and originality of manuscripts
The journal INQUIDE – Chemical Engineering and Development receives original and unpublished contributions that represent significant advances in the fields of engineering, chemical engineering, applied technology, and related areas.
Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published nor be simultaneously under consideration for publication in other scientific journals, books, editorial repositories, or equivalent media.
1.2 Types of Articles Accepted
The journal INQUIDE – Ingeniería Química y Desarrollo accepts the following types of scientific manuscripts for evaluation and publication:
Research Articles
Research articles present original results derived from scientific or technological research. These manuscripts must clearly describe the research problem, the objectives of the study, the methodology used, the results obtained, and their corresponding discussion. Research articles should contribute new knowledge or relevant developments in the fields of engineering, chemical engineering, applied technology, or related areas. They generally include the following sections: introduction, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions, and references.
Systematic Review Articles
Systematic review articles consist of a critical, structured, and comprehensive analysis of the existing scientific literature on a specific research topic. Their purpose is to synthesize the current state of knowledge, identify research trends, recent advances, knowledge gaps, and potential future research directions. Systematic review articles must be based on up-to-date scientific sources and follow an explicit method for searching, selecting, and analyzing the scientific literature.
Technical Articles
Technical articles present technological developments, engineering applications, industrial case studies, specialized technical analyses, or experiences related to the implementation of technological solutions in real-world contexts. The purpose of this type of manuscript is to promote knowledge transfer between academic research and professional practice. Although their focus is applied, technical articles must maintain academic rigor, be supported by relevant scientific literature, and present a clear and structured technical analysis that contributes to the improvement of processes, technologies, or engineering systems.
1.3 Languages of publication
The journal accepts manuscripts in the following languages:
· Spanish.
· English
· Portuguese
The title, abstract, and keywords must be presented in two languages, one of which must necessarily be English.
1.4 Manuscript preparation and format
Manuscripts must be prepared using Microsoft Word (doc or .docx) and submitted through the journal’s online editorial management system.
Authors must use the official template corresponding to the type of article:
· Research article template: Spanish (click), English (click), Portuguese (click).
· Review article template: Spanish (click), English (click), Portuguese (click).
· Technical article template: Spanish (click), English (click), Portuguese (click).
Manuscripts must comply with the following criteria:
• Clarity and coherence in writing
• Correct grammar and spelling
• Consistent use of abbreviations and International System of Units (SI)
• Appropriate academic structure
1.5 Ethical considerations
Authors must ensure that the submitted work complies with the principles of ethics in scientific research.
In the case of studies involving human or animal participants, the corresponding statement of ethical approval and informed consent issued by the relevant institutional ethics committee must be provided.
The journal adheres to the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1.6 Authorship and contributions
All authors must have made significant intellectual contributions to the work presented.
Submission of a manuscript implies that:
• All authors have read and approved the final version of the manuscript.
• All authors agree with its submission to the journal.
• All authors assume responsibility for the scientific content of the work.
Authors are encouraged to specify their contributions following international standards of scientific authorship.
1.7 Conflicts of interest
Authors must declare any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that could influence the results or the interpretation of the manuscript.
1.8 Peer review process
All manuscripts received will undergo an initial editorial evaluation by the editorial board.
Manuscripts that meet the formal requirements will be submitted to a double-blind peer review process, in which neither the authors nor the reviewers know each other's identities, thereby ensuring impartiality, quality, and scientific rigor in the editorial process.
1.9 Translation and international visibility
In order to enhance the international visibility of published works, accepted articles may be translated into English, Spanish, or Portuguese by the editorial team or through agreement with the authors.
1.10 Mandatory documentation
All submissions must include the following documentation:
· Manuscript in Word format prepared according to the official template.
· Manuscript cover letter.
· Statement of manuscript originality and copyright transfer agreement, signed by all authors.
· Pre-submission checklist confirming compliance with editorial guidelines.
Signatures may be digital or handwritten, provided they are clearly legible.
2. Submission Preparation Checklist
Before submitting the manuscript, authors must verify that their submission complies with the following requirements:
· The manuscript is original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.
· The manuscript file is in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
· The article has been prepared using the official journal template corresponding to the article type.
· The title, abstract, and keywords are presented in two languages, including English.
· The text complies with the journal’s standards of academic writing, coherence, spelling, and formatting.
· In the case of research involving human or animal participants, the corresponding ethical approval and informed consent are attached.
· The Manuscript Cover Letter is attached.
· The Statement of Originality and Copyright Transfer Agreement, signed by all authors, is attached.
· The Pre-submission Checklist for Editorial Compliance, signed by all authors, is attached.
· All authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and agree with its submission to the journal.
