About the Journal

Nature and Objective

EASI is an international scientific journal published by the Faculty of Industrial Engineering at the University of Guayaquil, Ecuador, that adheres to the open access model, under which its content is freely and immediately available. Articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license, which allows users to share and redistribute published material, provided that appropriate credit is given to the authors, the material is not used for commercial purposes, and modified material is not distributed, in accordance with the conditions established in the journal’s copyright policy.

The journal promotes the generation, dissemination, and transfer of scientific and technological knowledge through the publication of contributions derived from research processes. EASI welcomes submissions distinguished by their methodological rigor, originality, scientific relevance, and potential impact at the local, regional, and international levels.

EASI is intended for researchers, academics, professionals, and postgraduate students whose scientific and technological interests are related to the topics covered by the journal.

To establish a clear correspondence between submitted manuscripts and the journal’s thematic areas, authors will be asked during the online submission process to indicate the thematic area to which the article is related.

Publication Frequency

Until February 2026, EASI followed a biannual publication schedule, with issues published in January and August. As of March 2026, the journal adopted a semiannual publication schedule, with issues published in June and December each year. All content published by EASI is available here.

Language

Articles may be submitted in Spanish or English, with priority given to manuscripts written in English. In all cases, the title, abstract, and keywords must be provided in both Spanish and English.

Open Access and Publication Fees Policy

EASI does not charge fees for manuscript submission, processing, or publication (APCs), nor for accessing, reading, or downloading published articles.

Types of contributions

Research Articles: 6000-word manuscripts addressing questions about a theoretical or applied disciplinary aspect, generally pursuing scientific research, or presenting a new solution method for particular problems are welcome in this section.
Review Articles: This option compiles critical, systematic, and exhaustive analyses to explore the current state of the art related to the phenomenal growth in technology leading industry development, and how this relation shapes the new society. An 8000-word manuscript is suggested.

Main research approaches

Analytical: This approach focuses on breaking down a whole into its elements and meticulously examining how they are related to each other and the whole as a unit.
Applied: This approach involves the demonstration or practical application of a particular method or technique. It showcases the results derived from scientific research or technical experiments, including the presentation of statistical data.
Descriptive: This approach provides a comprehensive overview of the properties and attributes of a specific phenomenon, object, process, or subject.
Experimental: This approach involves the empirical verification or testing of a theory or hypothesis using the experimental method or statistical techniques. It presents the results derived from scientific or technical observations.

Peer Review Process

Manuscripts are evaluated anonymously through a double-blind peer review system. Reviewers assess originality, methodological soundness, relevance, clarity of writing, and the appropriateness of references, and provide a report with comments and recommendations for the editor and authors.

Institutional Diversity and Editorial Endogamy

EASI promotes institutional and geographical diversity in its publications and seeks to prevent editorial endogamy.

The proportion of research articles in which at least one author is an editor, Editorial Board member, or reviewer of EASI shall not exceed 25% in each published issue.

When a member of the editorial team participates as an author or co-author, they shall be excluded from the management, evaluation, and editorial decision-making process of the manuscript.
