AI usage policies

EASI permits the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support manuscript preparation, provided that they do not replace the authors’ intellectual responsibility.

Authors. The use of generative AI must be disclosed when it is employed to generate, modify, or process manuscript content, identifying the tool used and its purpose. Disclosure is not required when its use is limited to spelling or grammar correction, language editing, or formatting. Authors are responsible for verifying any content generated or processed using AI. AI tools may not be listed as authors or co-authors or cited as sources of scientific information.

Reviewers and editors. Generative AI must not be used to produce evaluations, recommendations, or editorial decisions, nor should manuscripts or confidential information be entered into external AI tools. AI may be used to improve the wording of reviewers’ or editors’ own texts, provided that the confidentiality of the editorial process is not compromised.

Use by EASI. The journal may use automated tools to help identify possible undisclosed uses of AI. Results will be verified by the editorial team and will not, on their own, constitute grounds for the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript.
