Abstract

Humanity during its recent development has undergone profound transformations, which demonstrate how unpredictable and disconcerting the human interrelationship is, both within society and with nature. Society, in accordance with the evolution of the progress of humanity, has overcome different processes in which these advances have characterized each of these “revolutions” or “societies”, in this way there has been, in this order, a first revolution or the hunter-gatherer revolution, then a second, the agrarian, then a third, the industrial, followed by the revolution of the so-called information society, in which we currently find ourselves; and we are entering a fifth revolution conceived as “Society 5. 0”, a society with a logical-computer vision; whose vision of the world is existential or perspectivist. This new 5.0 society or “superintelligent” society is characterized by digital transformation and the internet of things (IoT) that allows access to an immeasurable amount of data (big data) often too complex for humans to understand, imperceptibly treated by advanced computer systems and new algorithms (AI), which can be seen as a “distribution and commoditization of capabilities” that provide services never seen before, which will drive an era of industrial and social innovation. In this context, research as a linking and transforming axis of society, must necessarily be rethought; therefore, it requires another approach. Under this reality, different authors present possible solutions to this polychotomy and foresee the need to generate new economic activities that will go hand in hand with the development of technology, while others will gradually or abruptly disappear.
