Abstract

Context: This paper refers to aspects related to information and knowledge to strengthen the financial-academic strategic planning tool in Ecuadorian universities, and in particular in the State University of the South of Manabí. Method: High rigor documentary analysis is used, with the intention of specifying the summaries that suggest the studied paradigm. Likewise, historical-logical methods are used to dispose of the elements related to the information and knowledge that is managed with the financial-academic tool; the method of analysis and synthesis that provided sufficient information to address the scientific problem; the inductive-deductive method for the analysis of specific antecedents of the existing problem. Results: The need to deploy an information and knowledge management proposal is identified to strengthen the financial-academic tool that contributes to the improvement of strategic planning in Ecuadorian universities. Conclusions: Gaps related to the effective and efficient use of the resources contemplated in the strategic plans for institutional development, deployed in their annual operating plans, were detected, which strengthens the need to use information and knowledge to strengthen the financial tool - academic of strategic planning in Ecuadorian universities, this contributes to the conception of future proposals that integrate the management of information and knowledge for the development of strategic planning.
