The objective of this article is to analyze the evolution of Ecuadorian foreign trade during the 2019 - 2021 period and the effects that the COVID-19 pandemic has generated. It began with a situational assessment of traditional and non-traditional exports, as well as the main imports. Additionally, an analysis of the conditions faced by exporters and importers was carried out, along with the actions and measures implemented by the government to counteract the consequences of the pandemic on foreign trade. The approach used is mixed; quantitative by database analysis; and qualitative for the documentary review of scientific articles, and national and international journals on the consequences and impact of the pandemic. Although the results reflect a surplus in the trade balance, the pandemic produced unprecedented negative effects on the country's economy, as well as on the flower and tourism export sectors, on the other hand, it benefited certain products due to economic expectations and exchange rate. of consumer preferences, this change should be considered to expand and improve the exportable offer as well as the implementation of strategies and public policies for the reactivation of international trade.
