The present work aims to analyze the situation of entrepreneurships in Ecuador in the period 2015 to 2017. The statistical information comes from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) for the years analyzed. With these indicators, an identification, description and analysis of the evolution of the socioeconomic profiles, attitudes and aptitudes of the Ecuadorian entrepreneur was carried out. The results show that in Ecuador opportunity ventures prevail over necessity ventures, however, this difference is not very pronounced, unlike what happens with other countries in the region, and tends to vary over the years. . In addition, Ecuador continues to lead the figures on entrepreneurship in Latin America, however, the motivations to undertake are highly associated with the lack of formal jobs and the precariousness of income. In this sense, it is imperative to focus efforts so that the enterprises arise from the use of favorable institutional conditions, and that they do not constitute an extreme solution to the phenomenon of unemployment.
