ArTeS is specialized in the search for sustainable solutions in Architecture and Urbanism through the application of engineering technologies and systems, understanding that this is the complex result of various factors that unfold over time on multiple scales. The journal disseminates works carried out under multidisciplinary and comprehensive approaches. Its contents are defined by an editorial policy that prioritizes collaborations' quality, originality, thematic relevance, systematization, and scientific rigor, especially valuing those derived from academic research.

Refereeing process

Peer review

All articles submitted to the journal will be subject to a rigorous review process by specialists in the subject area to which they correspond. This process includes peer review in the form of double-blind peer review. The author's declaration that the manuscript is not under submission for publication in other media and that all authors have approved the submission to ArTeS will be verified, as well as the editorial standards declared by the journal.

Review Phases

  • Initial Selection

Papers are submitted through the Open Journal System (OJS), where the author must upload the following information: a) Anonymized manuscript; b) Letter of originality and copyright; and c) Authors' biography.

  • Similarity detection

All articles are reviewed through the automated plagiarism detection system, which guarantees that the papers are unpublished. The system produces a report showing the similarity percentage and marks the compromised paragraphs. A maximum of 7% similarity is accepted.

  • Double-blind peer review

Articles that pass the first selection phase are submitted to the double-blind peer review process, where anonymity between authors and reviewers is guaranteed. This process is carried out through the OJS platform, the referees are notified by e-mail and a maximum period of 4 weeks is established to complete the evaluation.

The type of opinions issued by the referees regarding the publication may be:

  • Publishable without modifications
  • Publishable with suggested modifications
  • Not publishable

Communication of editorial decision

Based on these external reports, the editorial committee will decide whether to accept or reject the manuscripts for publication. If there are discrepancies in the arbitrations, a third reviewer will be assigned, who will have two weeks to review the manuscripts.

Communication between authors and reviewers

At the end of the evaluation process, the editorial committee will send the authors a communication about the acceptance or rejection of the texts and will indicate the date of publication. Authors will be able to access the final article through the ArTeS website (post-publication).

ArTeS reserves the right to make style corrections to improve the work, a proofreader will be assigned who will adjust the writing style to editorial standards, improve the quality and clarity of the text, and correct any grammatical errors, leaving the submission ready for conversion to a publication format. Authors will receive this edited version by e-mail, before final editing, to confirm the authors' feedback and suggest minor content corrections.

Open Access Policy: ArTeS provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that providing the public with free access to research helps increase the global exchange of knowledge (Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International).

The reception of contributions is carried out continuously exclusively through the journal's website, https://revistas.ug.edu.ec/index.php/artes/about/submissions. The selection of articles is carried out through the peer review system in double-blind mode. The ArTeS Journal is in the process of being indexed.
