Abstract

The study aims to promote physical, sports, and recreational activity in the general community through the implementation of methodological strategies that encourage a healthy use of free time and leisure, preventing risk situations and diseases associated with a sedentary lifestyle. It examines how these activities contribute to the physical, emotional, and social well-being of priority groups, as well as promoting their inclusion. Through a theoretical and documentary review, the biopsychosocial benefits of these practices are identified, and the necessary interdisciplinary approaches and public policies to guarantee their effective implementation are highlighted. A structured survey was used for parents and student interns (teachers); the data was analyzed descriptively and through thematic analysis. The findings confirm that physical activity, sports, and recreation, when developed from an inclusive and adapted perspective, are beneficial. The importance of physical, recreational, and sports activity is revealed as a key tool for the optimization of leisure and free time in priority groups, specifically for people with disabilities, children and adolescents between 5 and 16 years of age who are in a vulnerable situation. The limited population consisted of 219 children enrolled in the vacation course and 300 teachers, under the outreach project: “Promotion of physical, recreational, and sports activity for priority groups and the general community for the optimization of free time and leisure”.
