Abstract

Tricuspid valve endocarditis is rare and usually affects patients with a history of parenteral drug use and intravascular or intracardiac devices. We report the case of a 24-year-old male patient with a diagnosis of infective endocarditis of the tricuspid valve due to staphylococcus aureus, complicated by septic pulmonary embolism. Intravenous drug use was a risk factor in the history. The diagnosis was established using the modified endocarditis criteria of the European Society of Cardiology 2023. He received medical and surgical treatment in the active stage of the disease due to the echocardiographic characteristics of the vegetation that suggested a high probability of new embolic events.
