La reconstrucción mamaria posmastectomía se considera actualmente parte integral del tratamiento multidisciplinario del carcinoma de la mama. La colocación de implantes de silicona es una de las modalidades de ésta. Su utilización ha sido recientemente objeto de revisión, dada la existencia de temores con relación al surgimiento de trastornos autoinmunes a causa de su empleo sistemático. En este trabajo se hace revisión actualizada del tema y se muestran los resultados preliminares de una pcte mastectomizada por cáncer de mama, Se describen los procederes quirúrgicos y se muestran las principales complicaciones que se puede presentar
