Peer Review Process

CONEXIONES UG Journal guarantees the scientific quality of its publications through a rigorous peer review process under the double-blind modality, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the entire process. This editorial workflow is supervised by the Decanato de Vinculación con la Sociedad y Bienestar Universitario.

Phases of the Editorial Process:

  1. Initial Editorial Review (Pre-check): Upon receipt of the manuscript, the Editor conducts a preliminary evaluation to verify that the work complies with the journal's focus and scope, style guidelines, and originality policy using the Turnitin tool.

  2. Assignment of Peer Reviewers: Articles that pass the initial phase are sent to two external reviewers, who are experts in the subject matter with a recognized academic trajectory. To avoid institutional bias (endogamy), the journal prioritizes reviewers external to the University of Guayaquil.

  3. Evaluation and Timelines: Reviewers have a period of 30 business days to submit their technical report in the first round of evaluation. The evaluation is conducted objectively, considering scientific rigor, methodology, and the work's contribution to solving socio-educational and community problems.

  4. Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' reports, the Editorial Committee will make one of the following decisions:

  • Publish without modifications.

  • Publish after making suggested modifications.

  • Do not publish. In case of a discrepancy between the two reviewers, the manuscript will be sent to a third arbiter to break the tie.

  1. Adjustments and Final Version: If changes are required, authors will have a timeframe to submit the corrected version along with a letter detailing the improvements made. The Editor will verify that all suggestions have been addressed before proceeding to layout and publication.
