Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the effect of fertilization programs on the development of the Sumatra variety of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) in the Ventanas region. A completely randomized block design was used, with four treatments and three replications. Tukey's test at a 95% confidence level was used to determine differences between means. The sample consisted of 30 tobacco plants, with three replications per treatment, for a total of 360 plants evaluated in the field. The following variables were evaluated: plant height (cm), leaf length (cm), leaf width (cm), leaf area, number of leaves, green leaf weight, dry leaf weight, and economic analysis. The Biotrac treatment (T2) significantly outperformed the other treatments (Banatrel, Zerebra Agro Fyto 6, and the control) in leaf development, resulting in larger leaves, which directly contributes to the quality of the harvest. Biotrac stood out by showing the best results in terms of plant height, number of leaves, leaf length and width, and leaf area. Economically, all treatments were profitable compared to the control; Banatrel (T1) was the most profitable (1630 kg/ha; $5143.60/ha), surpassing Biotrac (1475 kg/ha; $4516.75/ha).
