Abstract

This research investigates land-use conflicts within the Sustainable Integral Space:
Polytechnic Forest – CIIDEA (ESPAM MFL Agricultural Technology Park) by examining the
relationship between land cover and land use relative to land-use capability. Using the
decision matrix framework developed by MAG/SIGTIERRAS, the study established the
correspondence between land cover and soil capability to identify specific land-use
conflicts. The findings reveal several discrepancies, most notably underutilization, which
accounts for the largest portion of the study area at 53.83% (72.25 ha), followed by adequate
use at 26.53% (35.61 ha). While slight overutilization was observed in 16.47% (22.11 ha) of
the territory, moderate and severe overutilization were less prevalent, representing only
2.03% (2.73 ha) and 1.14% (1.53 ha), respectively. These results underscore the complex
dynamics driving land-use conflicts and provide a robust empirical foundation for informed
decision-making and the development of strategic soil conservation measures.
