Considering the importance of black tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) as an economic activity for the communities near the La Esperanza dam, it was proposed to carry out an analysis of the state and population structure of this species, for which monitoring was carried out from April to September 2014, Determining the composition of the catches, size structure, length-weight ratio, sexual maturity, as well as the parameters and curves of growth, mortality rates and operating coefficient. The results determined the mean catch size at 29.6 for males and at 28.0 cm LT for females as well as 30.8 cm for LT as mean maturity of females, in addition a LT∞ = 44.1 cm, K of 0.83 / year, isometric growth, high mortality rates and an exploitation coefficient of 0.64, which makes it possible to consider that O. niloticus in the study area is in a state of overexploitation as a result of fishing effort Exercised.
