Abstract

The sars cov 2 virus was detected on December 31th 2019 by the World Health Organization (OMS, 2019), this was the first and only outbreak of pneumonia in the city of Wuhan, China. At the end of january 2020, the epidemic outbreak became pandemic and, therefore, a public health emergency of international concern. The main objective was to investigate the collaborative network of scientific production on the case of covid–19, in order to identify, map, and explore the interconnections between publications, most relevant authors, countries of origin, institutional affiliation and keywords. Methodologically, the study has an exploratory and descriptive bibliometric analysis with a quantitative approach as a research design, gathering of information was carried out in march 2022, taking into account the information available in Web of Science for 2020–2021. Finally, Ecuadorian researchers also positioned themselves with their academic contributions on covid–19 in approximately 150 high-impact and open access publications in the world.
