Abstract

Most are litharenites Sugar sandstones containing 68.4 % quartz, 26 % feldspar lithic and 5.9 % , its volcanic lithic are 32.6 % , 37.8 % and 29.6 % sedimentary cherts , and their constituent mono-and polycrystalline quartz are 60.7 % , 33.6 % 5.7 % total lytic feldspar. The cherts and volcanic lithic increase northbound ( Zapotal outcrops north and west ) by 10.8 % and 3.4 % respectively. The essential component diagrams ( Q , F , L ) and monoand polycrystalline Total ( Qm , F , Lt) of Dickinson ( 1986
) indicate for Sugar sandstone depositional provenance recycled orogenic tectonics , specifically the type of collision orogeny .
The arc - trench system of the Circum - Pacific orogenic belt sandstone deposits typically contains feldespatolíticas litofeldespáticas or derived from volcano- plutonic magmatic arc (Dickinson , 1982 ) . The knowledge of the composition of the sandstone Sugar and depositional tectonic conditions to optimize oil exploration on the southern coast of Ecuador.
